Venus Rotational Resonance

I doubt Velikovsky knew about the resonance between Earth and Venus. After all the surface of Venus is not visible through its thick, acidic clouds. The surface has only been observed by the Soviets with their Venera spacecraft. They photographed a basalt surface. Since Venus is hot enough to melt lead, the Veneras only lasted about an hour. The first radar observation of the Venusian surface occurred for a month before and after the inferior conjunction of April 11, 1960. Radar revealed that Venus has a retrograde rotation.

Judges 5:20 records a day when the stars (or planets) fought from their courses and heavy rain fell in the mountains. The word stars is plural kokabiym. The Hebrew for Mercury is kokab and Venus is kokab nogah. The Babylonians recorded catastrophic events and heavy rain in the mountains when Venus passed. They even mentioned which way the horns of Venus pointed and that they could see it in the daytime. The Babylonian symbol for Venus (Ishtar) was an eight pointed star. Venus repeats its horizon appearances (relative to the background stars) every eight years. During those eight years it would appear as a morning / evening star five times. The earliest astronomical record during the 21 year reign of king Ammizaduga shows that Venus had a different orbit. It took approximately the same number of days for its synodic cycle. However it spent weeks too long on the far side of the Sun and half the difference too short for both evening and morning phases. It sometimes rushed past earth in one day. Today it takes about eight days between the evening and morning phases. These could only be valid if the whole solar system was smaller in that era.

Venus turns the same side towards Earth at each inferior conjunction. The inferior conjunctions that are eight years apart happen at almost the same solar longitude and orbital configurations. Comparing the sub earth longitude of Venus with those that occur in eight year intervals reveals that the longitude is almost identical and does not gradually move off. How did this resonance happen? Did a large asteroid collide with Venus?  Radar shows that Venus has very few craters. Its surface is mostly lava flows. A collision is short term event, unlikely to have enough momentum to reorient Venus. What if it was caused by tidal interactions and precession?

1. Venus rotates backwards from the other major planets. Analogy - two meshed gears. One must rotate CW and the other CCW because they are locked together. On Venus, the Sun rises in the West and sets in the East.

2. The rotation of Venus would need to be very slow. The conjunction is a slow motion event - as Venus slowly overtakes and passes us. Venus rotates so slowly that its sidereal day is longer than its sidereal year.

3. Venus would need to be somewhat smaller than Earth for an Earth tide to affect Venus more than the Venusian tide to affected us. Venus is about 80% the size of Earth.

4. Precession is the process of incrementally applying a torque to a rotating body. The torque acts 90 degrees in the direction of rotation and re-orients the spin axis. Tidal effect of a close encouter could have precessed Venus almost 180 degrees so that its formerly north pointing axis points toward the ecliptic’s south pole. One-dimensional Universe?

The physicist Dr. Dejan Stojkovic wrote in Physical Review Letters that the universe initially expanded like a straight line. Later it expanded into a plane, then into three and then four dimensions. Stojkovic explains that gravity cannot exist in one or two dimensions. If the initial expansion was not affected by gravity, faster than light expansion might not be needed to form galaxy clusters. One-dimensional explosions could also explain why galaxies eject bipolar jets, since they could initially operate in fewer dimensions that are unaffected by gravity.

Dr. Stojkovic explained that “Physicists have struggled with the same problems for 10, 20, 30 years, and straightforward extensions of extensions of the existing ideas are unlikely to solve them. We have to take into account the possibility that something is systematically wrong with our ideas. We need something radical and new, and this is something radical and new.”

Scientists can never solve the riddle of the universe with any amount of emerging dimensions because there is something systematically wrong with their ideas. Peter prophesied that the mockers of the last days will obfuscate the history of the plural heavens with “all things remain the same.” This is the very assumption upon which modern science was constructed. Attempts to model the universe with mathematics are synthetic because they mathematically synthesize their idea that the properties of matter are fixed. Empiricism was contrived with this assumption since the units for time, distance, mass, energy, velocity, gravity and the laws of physics depend on this fundamental premise. The system “works” locally because both the units and the mathematics depend on the same speculation that matter is not changing itself.

Biblical physics is the antithesis of science, since it depends on the biblical statement that the creation is enslaved to change. Visible cosmic history shows that atoms always change their frequencies. Even when we sent calibrated clocks out of the solar system on the Pioneer spacecraft, their clocks also slowed the farther they got from Earth. The most-distant galaxy we have analyzed,  clocked one-tenth the frequencies of modern atoms. The earliest galaxies were naked, without starry extensions. At many ranges, we observe how the stars began to form and spread out, move out, accelerate out as billions of galaxies intrinsically grew into huge, local, growth spirals. The Bible says the plural heavens (the galaxies) were created first. Later the Sun, Moon and stars were formed and placed in the raqiya shamayim, the spreading places in the plural heavens. We confirm creation with telescopes, exactly as described in the Bible.

Even on our planet we see simple evidence for a biblical earth-history, since the continents only fit together on a tiny globe without major seas. Three times the Bible states that the earth spreads out in unbroken continuity. The Earth cannot double in size unless the properties of matter are emerging relationally. Scientific speculations about subduction are contradicted by the undisturbed sediments in the ocean trenches.

Why do Creationists try to be Scientific?

We should interpret Genesis as a contemporary would, not scientifically, since the assumption necessary for scientific reasoning did not germinate among the Greeks until 1,000 years after Moses. So why do creationists interpret the creation account with science?

1. The earth history of the ancients makes little sense to modern people.

2. The framework of western thinking constrains how we understand biblical earth history.

3. Many Christians assume that western science enhances the Bible, making it more effective.

1. Here is an example of how the ancients understood Genesis. Moses recorded that Jacob was 130 years old when he told Pharaoh that his days and years were shorter and worse than the days and years of his fathers (Genesis 47:9). Jacob did not mean that succeeding generations live fewer years, since his father lived five more years than his grandfather. In Jacob’s days, everyone believed that former days and years were longer than present ones. Hesiod, who lived centuries after Moses, wrote that in the silver generation “a child was brought up at his good mother's side a hundred years.” He wailed that he was born to the iron generation when people never stopped laboring by day and dying by night and this deterioration would continue until children were born with grey temples. (Works and Days). Those who thought their children aged rapidly but children from previous generations matured slowly and lived for eons could not think scientifically.

Evidently Jacob was right since we dig up adult skulls with great thick brows. Our facial bones slowly thicken as we age. If we lived for geological ages, our faces would grow Neanderthal. The skulls of Neanderthal youth had faces like ours, not like their grandparents. How long was a normal lifetime during the dinosaur age? Job describes dinosaurs living in the Jordan alongside men. Job chapter 14 lists markers for a lifetime: mountains crumble; rocks move from their place; water wears away stones, torrents wash away the dust of the earth; rivers dry and water is gone from the sea (west). The sea floor is a preserver of history, since later sediments cover up the older laminates. In 1970, the drill ship Glomar Challenger found layers of deep sea oozes alternating with desiccated materials in the Mediterranean seabed. Around the Mediterranean, graveled river beds once ran through what are now deep submarine canyons. Drill cores at Cairo show that the Nile once ran through a rock-cut gorge that was then deeper than the Grand Canyon. How could Job have used the drying sea (Hebrew west) as a marker for the length of life if he had not experienced the sea drying? After all, we had no idea the Mediterranean dried until we examined the drill cores. Job ended his poem with “paniym shanah” (faces continually change, continue to transmute, to deform, to double) and then God takes them away (they die).

2. Why do Christians struggle accepting Job literally? It is not from the skulls with thick brows or the bottom cores showing that the sea dried. The problem is an elementary idea. The Bible predicts that in the last days mockers will interpret the history of the plural heavens (galaxies) and earth’s watery past with “all things remain the same” (2 Peter 3:3-6). The assumption that the properties of matter are fixed is the basis for all scientific earth histories.

3. The Laodicean church thought of themselves as rich, powerful and able to see clearly but Jesus said they were wretched, poor, blind, and naked (Revelations 3:14 - 22). We seem to be in the Laodicean age since many Christians are proud of their efforts to evangelize with culture and creation science. The more we emphasize our persuasive powers, the less we can rely on the Spirit of God to bring some to faith in Christ and to triumph over the world order of the last days. His power is fulfilled through our weakness, not our cultural relevance. He commands us not to be wise in this age because he is taking them with their own skills (1 Corinthians 3:18 - 19).

If we do not present scientific arguments, how can we validate biblical creation? The Bible states that knowledge of God’s glory is available day and night without words in the plural heavens (shamayim).  The spread out places (raqiya) show His handiwork (Psalm 19). What is visible in the distant galaxies clearly confirms biblical creation and biblical cosmic history.

We observe that the earliest galaxies were naked and compact, without starry appendages. The atoms in those primordial galaxies shone at tiny fractions of the light frequencies of modern atoms. Evidently ancient atoms took up tiny fractions of the volume of modern atoms. At many closer ranges we observe that the stars came out, spread out, as the volume of matter keeps on increasing along with the increasing light frequencies. We observe at many ranges how billions of galaxies grew into local, dusty, growth spirals. Genesis clearly states that God put the Sun, Moon and stars in the raqiya shamayim, the spreading places in the plural heavens. What we observe confirms biblical physics, the physics of relational change, and biblical cosmic history. The same effects evidently happened here in our solar system since astronomers measured a decreasing solar parallax throughout the centuries. Scientists cannot accept the visible history of the universe because it is a violation of their creed that the properties of matter are fixed, not emerging. Their universe is crammed with transparent invisible matter. They even believe that the vacuum of space time stretches light, moves galaxies and pulls energy out of the vacuum to accelerate the expansion of the vacuum. The scientific universe is 99% speculative, invisible things. All the invisible things are necessary to protect their creed - that atoms are immutable and dither with perpetual motion. Only biblical physics, the physics of change, allows one to accept the visible history of the universe.

The left picture is of IC5146 from inside our own galaxy as photographed by ESA’s Herschel. The blue glob has a bow shock at the front and a long gas tail with stars imbedded along it. The inset at upper right is galaxy 4491 from NASA’s Hubble Ultra Deep Field. The light from this galaxy shines at less than half the light frequencies of modern atoms. The reddish core is shooting out a steam of blue globs, evidently the early stage in a spiral galaxy arm. The fact that galaxies grew as the properties of matter visibly change confirms biblical physics and biblical cosmic history.

Thousands of Christian young people “loose their faith” when confronted with scientific earth histories. Millions refuse to even consider the evidence for creation because we have been tailoring the Bible to fit science. Yet we can see a biblical cosmic history with telescopes at many ranges, just as the literal words of the Bible describe. We need to repent and fight with the word of God, instead of science. It is then that we will bring down the great fortress of speculative reasoning raised up against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:3 -6). How great will be the triumph of the Bible over science, the system that was founded on an elementary principle from a pagan Greek.

Comet Wild-2 Supports Biblical Earth History

In early 2004, Stardust gathered particles ejected from comet Wild-2 and returned them two years later. Photos of Wild-2 show flat-bottomed depressions with sheer walls. Evidently the surface is cohesive enough to hold up vertical cliffs. It is oblate, 3.3 x 4.0 x 5.5 kilometers and is as dark as coal. Stardust photographed ten jets that were active during its passage. In 2008, scientists published results showing crystalline silicate dust from Wild-2. The tiny bits of olivine, anorthite and diopside only grow around 700 Celsius. In April 2011, a study from the University of Arizona found grains of iron and copper sulfides - cubanite- that only forms in warm, liquid water. The cubanite should not form above 210 Celsius. How could rocks that form in liquid water and crystals that grew in hot subterranean conditions exist on a tiny, frozen body?

Scientific comet-explanations rely on speculations that star dust gravitated together in the frozen outer solar system. The Swiss astronomer Wild only discovered Wild-2 after it had passed close to Jupiter. The Jupiter perturbation suggests that it has only been in its present orbit for seven cycles. Therefore, it should still contain much of the original material that allegedly gravitated into a rubble pile. Did solar explosions generate the iron silicates which somehow migrated into the outer solar system - as some have speculated? Did impacts temporarily produced the liquid water necessary for cubanite to form? Such stories are clearly ad hoc.

A biblical earth history can explain comets and asteroids using historical and visible evidence. Like the records from many ancient societies, the Bible mentions the shattering of a planet in the inner solar system a few thousand years ago. Evidently this happened during the dinosaur age, since the book of Job mentions the shattering twice and also describes two kinds of dinosaurs. Job lists the geological markers for a lifetime in chapter 14 and also mentions that their faces doubled before they died. Indeed we find early human skulls with thick brows. The bones of the face are the only part of our skeleton that keeps growing with age. If we lived for geological ages, our brows would grow Neanderthal. The fact that the Neanderthal child skulls did not have the thick brows are evidence for geological lifetimes, just as Job mentioned. Indeed, Isaiah wrote that the shattering happened in the generations of long ago.

How can we be sure that the text is referring to a planet shattering? Because the Bible uses similar descriptive words as the pagans for the shattering of one of their planet-gods. The Canaanites described the event as a seven-headed sea serpent. If a large watery planet was shattered in the inner solar system, each major piece would initially sport a vapor tail. The seafaring Canaanites could imagine this as a writhing, multi-headed sea serpent. If a planet and moon collided, as the Babylonian description suggests, we should find shattered planet pieces orbiting the Sun that contain rocks and crystals formed in the parent bodies.

Why is it so difficult for scientifically minded Christians to accept the biblical record as the ancients would have understood it? The problem is a little assumption that the Bible predicted for the false teachers of the last days, that “all things remain the same.” The presumption that the properties of matter are fixed, not emerging, it the historical basis for western science. This assumption originated in the mind of a pagan philosopher and became the foundation for western science through the efforts of the medieval Catholics. Scientific definitions, measuring units, mathematics, methods and especially scientific earth histories were contrived with the presumption that the properties of matter are fixed, not emerging.

Only biblical "physics" allows one to accept the visible evidence for fundamental change in the solar system and in the long ago galaxies. The Bible clearly states the creation is enslaved to change. Indeed we confirm in the light from billions of ancient galaxies that none of them shone with the frequencies of modern atoms. The most powerful evidence for biblical physics is how billions of galaxies grew from tiny naked spheres to huge, spread-out growth spirals as star globs expanded and accelerated outward. This visible evidence confirms biblical cosmic history. The Bible states that God continually calls the stars to come out, that he spreads out the plural heavens (the galaxies) in unbroken continuity. Biblical physics is even confirmed on our own planet because the continents only fit together on a tiny globe without major seas. The Earth spreads out in unbroken continuity “above the waters” according to the Bible. We confirm this in a global expansion seam that continually forms new seafloor in every ocean.

A skeptic might insist that orbits are clock-like so the planets could not have passed close to earth a few millennia ago. Please look at the early universe and observe that the atomic clocks in billions of ancient galaxies shone at fractions of the light frequencies of modern atoms. We also notice that the stars accelerated outwards, just as one would expect from the repeated statements in the Hebrew Bible. Generations of astronomers measured with angles a decreasing solar parallax since the days of the classical Greek philosophers. Angles are the only precision measuring unit that were not contrived with the notion that the properties of matter are fixed, not emerging. The optical parallax to the Sun during the 2004 Venus transit was lower than the clock calculated obits. This should not surprise us since even the clocks we sent out of the solar system 40 years ago continued to slow down relative to clocks-of-the-moment in NASA’s network (the Pioneer Anomaly). Yet most scientific measuring units and all their earth histories were contrived with the notion that atoms dither with perpetual motion.
How great will be the triumph of the Word of God over man’s wisdom (science) just as the Bible predicts. This will happen to demonstrate His wisdom and His justice. He will bring to shame the great and the wise, but will save every one who comes to him as a sinner without any merit, trusting only in the salvation He provides. Where is the evidence? The Bible says knowledge of God’s great glory is available day and night without words in the shamayim raqiya - the spreading places in the plural heavens. Look at the galaxies with sight instead of mathematical speculations about unchanging matter and you will see how great will be the fall of Western science before the power of God’s Word.
